The Awkward Middle Child
After Matt 'n' Dusty concluded there were attempts to make new projects while still giving people the Matt and Dusty dynamic people loved.
Many of those projects never saw the light of day, and the one that did ironically, was Matt and Dusty's next series, Flynnville University (2017).
This series introduced a much needed middleman, Orick, Matt's best friend who puts up with Dusty's shenanegains in his own way.
The series was stopped after its third episode due to personal issues on creator Slacker's end as well as his desire to reboot the concept into something much, MUCH better.
Firsts with Flynnville University (2017)
While Flynnville University (2017) doesn't represent our current output, there were some things this series was the first to do for Brainfreezerrr.
- First series released by us to be made in actual animation software (Flash CS6), ditching the method used for Matt 'n' Dusty.
- First openly gay Brainfreezerrr character. We just wish it wasn't Abacus.
What could have been
Flynnville University (2017) only had three finished episodes in the end, but what didn't get finished isn't lost. Much of it has carried over to the new incartnation of Flynnville but with far more polish.
One example we can currently talk about is Barah. This was her original design as she was originally intended to show up in the show's fourth episode which never got made. Both her look and personality have changed dramatically behind the scenes but it makes you think what else was planned. Years later she finally got to see the light of day with It's Dusty + It's Barah and we couldn't be prouder of her.
